Sauna and steam room, Flat Bush.
Built early, before the framing was finished.
This one goes back a while now, to a very nice upmarket home in Flat Bush. We got onto it early, while the framing was still up but the design hadn't been locked down. That timing turned out to matter, because both the sauna and the steam room had been set out about a metre too narrow. Catching it at that stage meant it was an easy fix instead of a costly one.
The finished layout has the sauna on the left and the steam room on the right. In the sauna we used Ventura benching panels from Finland paired with Aspen wall panelling, a combination that gives a clean, warm finish. The steam room got our usual XPS foam core wall and ceiling panels for comfort and safety, with curved benches and a curved ceiling so condensation runs down the walls instead of dripping on you. Fibre optic lighting finishes the room off nicely.
The client was really happy with how it came together, and it's the kind of job we'd love to do more of. The steam room tiling, done by the client's own tiler as usual, wasn't finished when we left, so we're still waiting on photos of the completed room.
