MAINTENANCE

We look after the rooms we build.

A full service and advice programme for your sauna — ventilation, benches, panelling, stones, oils and new heaters. Whether we built it or not.

COVERAGE

What the programme covers

Correct ventilation, installed

There are many ways to ventilate a sauna. We'll advise on what suits yours, then fit it properly.

Benches repaired or remade

From a tired board to a full rebuild — the same bench work that goes into a new build.

Damage panelling

Repair and maintenance of the lining, matched to what's already in the room.

ONCE A YEAR FOR REGULAR USE
Stone replacement

Stones break down with every heat cycle. Regular replacement keeps the löyly right.

Bench oil treatment

Oil designed for sauna benches, from Finland — water resistant, easier to clean, more hygienic.

New heaters

Replacements for both electric and wood heated saunas, supplied and fitted.

THE RULE WORTH KNOWING

Change your stones
once a year

If your sauna gets used twice a week or more, the stones should be replaced annually. It's the single piece of maintenance most owners never get told about.

Every heat cycle breaks the rock down a little further. As they crumble they pack tighter, air stops moving through the heater, and the löyly goes flat — that sharp, dry heat instead of the soft one you paid for.

THE ONE THAT MATTERS MOST

Ventilation keeps a sauna
dry and healthy.

It's the part nobody thinks about and the part that decides whether the room is a pleasure or a chore. Good airflow makes the visit itself more enjoyable, and it keeps the timber dry between uses.

There are many ways to ventilate a sauna. Which one is right depends on the room — where the heater sits, where the door is, what's above the ceiling. That's an on-site question, and we'll give you a straight answer on it.

Get it wrong and the room tells you, usually before you work out why.

QUICK CHECK

Does any of this sound like your sauna?

You feel wiped out after a sauna
The room feels closed in
You get short of breath
in there
It smells musty

That's a ventilation problem — not just how saunas are.

When this many line up, the air simply isn't moving through the room. It's fixable, and it doesn't mean tearing the sauna out — usually it's a matter of getting the inlet and outlet right.

REAL EXAMPLES

What happens when a sauna isn't looked after

Mould on the benches

Mould on the benches

[PLACEHOLDER] The benches never dried out between sessions. With no airflow through the room, moisture sat in the timber and mould set in within a couple of seasons.

Crumbling heater stones

Crumbling heater stones

[PLACEHOLDER] Stones that aren't replaced break down over time, block the airflow through the heater and shorten the life of the elements.
